Mythological Picture of The World

A myth is a story about religion and Gods and Goddesses which tries to explain why life is as it is. In other words, it is an ancient story that describes supernatural beings and their divine power to describe natural processes.
Human beings by instinct, are keen to new happenings and try to seek its causes. Resultantly mythological explanations emerged in the ancient ages to justity the natural happenings and handed over to new generations orally with the time.
In about 700 BC, those myths were written by Homer and Heisoids which paved the way for their criticism resulting to the birth of philosophy in the World.
Natural happenings and processes are elaborated in mythology. In Nordic Mythilogy, Thor is considered to be the supreme God, the God of rain and fertility. He is very much mighty God with his powerful hammer. He uses his boomerang like hammer to maintain the natural necessities and keep precarious balance between good and evil. When he swings his hammer, it brings thunder and lightening resulting to rain which is envitable for farmers for cultivation. He is believed to wander in the sky in his chariot pulled by goats swinging his hammer during summer. He safeguards the whole world from the forces of chaos. He is not only the saviour but also the god of fertility among his believers.
One morning when Thor wakes up from sleep, he finds his hammer stolen and sends his henchman Loki to look for it. Loki flies to Jotunheim and finds that it is hidden seven leagues under the earth by the king of gaint Thrym. Thrym demands Freyja as his bride to give the hammer back to Thor. Freyja can't marry Thrym because she is the fertility of the world. Hence, Thor disguises himself as Freija and sets out Otgard in bride custums. The gaints welcomes them happily and during the marriage ceremony, Thrym orders to fetch the hammer and keep on the lap of the bride. As soon as Thor gets the hammer, he slys all the demons and maintains the peace and order. He saves the wrold from the threat of forces of chaos.
Similar type of mythologies are existed in almost all tribes living through out the World. In Hinduism, The God Indra is worshipped as the God of rain. When he swings his Vajra (weapon) it brings thunder and lightening causing to rain fall. People perform various types of rituals to make their heros (Gods) happy for the maintainacne of balance between good and evil in their life.
In fact, mythological explanation or the picture of the world provided platform to explore the reality of the natural processes. Because of Mythology, human rationality got opportunity to be cultivated and philosophy got born in the World.
To conclude, mythology is the base of philosophy and science.
