I Wanna be Yours

'I Wanna be Yours' is composed by a British poet namely John Cooper-Clarke. It is a love poem and in this poem the poet expresses his deep love to his beloved. His intemacy and his desire to go further in it is expressed by using different images in the poem. The poem is sensual.
The poem is composed of three stanzas. The poem opens with the sensual desire of the lover. He says that he wants to breathe in his lover. He desires to be very close to his lover. He uses coffee pot to show his intemacy with her. He is so passionate that he couldn't imagine to be of others. He only wants to be hers. He thinks he is inseparable and wants to stick himself with her. With reference to Ford Cortina (a branded 18th Century car) which is durable and comfortable, he wants to fulfill every desire of his beloved and wants to make her happy.
In the second stanza, the speaker becomes protective for his beloved. He uses different metaphor to maintain this purpose. He says that he wants to be a raincoat in rainy season to protect her from being soaked with rain. He imagines to be there in a dreamboat and sail together for ever. He says that he will work for her and tend with care. He is ready to make her feel comfort and think only about her.
In the third stanza, the poet says that he wants to be her electric meter and never leave her. He will provide her warmth like an electric heater. He wants to be her setting lotion to make her feel soft and pleasant. He vows to work for her. He says that he is important in her life. The poet has used the word 'deep' many times to emphasis on the importance of his love and affection.
Finally the speaker in the poem vows to be only hers not of others. He is incomplete without her. His relationship is long lasting and endless.
